In Bali’s increasingly competitive beach club landscape, Sundays needed to reclaim its relevance with high-spending travellers. Though beloved for its cliffside setting and understated charm, the brand lacked cohesion, failing to reflect the quality of experience it actually delivered. As newer, nightlife-led venues flooded the market, Sundays risked losing share to competitors.
We were engaged to realign the brand with its true essence: a barefoot luxury experience grounded in place, people, and a boutique philosophy. Trend and audience research confirmed a powerful shift. Premium travellers increasingly seek culturally rich, story-led experiences over corporate scale and spectacle. Sundays already possessed what competitors couldn’t manufacture:
The insight
Sundays possessed what competitors couldn't manufacture: a natural lagoon nestled into a headland cove, a sacred water spring with spiritual significance, and a long-serving local team genuinely connected to Uluwatu's community.
The idea
Premium travellers were increasingly seeking culturally rich, story-led experiences over corporate scale and spectacle. We built a positioning around the power of boutique — claiming the space that nightlife-led competitors couldn't own — “It’s in our Nature”.
The creative
We rejected the expected. No turquoise. No generic tropical. Instead, Sanskrit-inspired letterforms reimagined for a contemporary audience. A warm elemental palette grounded in earth, not ocean. Editorial photography that captured mood over marketing. A brand that feels as natural as the setting itself.
The recognition
At the 2025 Transform Awards ANZ, the international benchmark for brand development, Sundays Beach Club took Silver for Best Visual Identity from the Hospitality Sector.
Theola brought a level of strategic clarity and creative passion that fundamentally reshaped the Sundays and Ungasan brands. Their ability to distill our essence into a contemporary, high-performing identity has been instrumental in strengthening market positioning and elevating the guest journey.
