Thornton

A residence of rare artistry

At $22,000 per square metre, Thornton would become Brisbane’s most expensive residential offering, smashing all previous apartment sale records. But selling twelve residences at over $6 million each requires more than beautiful renders and a prime address. It demanded a story that justified the price. A brand experience where every detail is a metaphor for the building itself: beautifully designed, substantial, and beyond compare.

Bureau Proberts was commissioned to design a tower that would breathtakingly cantilever over a heritage-listed Queenslander. Brisbane’s rarest residential address floating above a piece of the city’s architectural history. With height restrictions limiting the building to just thirteen levels, each would become a full-floor residence.

The idea

We positioned Thornton as beyond compare: not through typical luxury superlatives, but by showcasing the extraordinary collaboration and craftsmanship behind every detail. Architect, chef, art curator, artist — a creative partnership that mirrored the building's ambition.

The creative

In five months, ten of twelve available residences were sold, exceeding the 50% pre-commitment build obligation. The project demonstrated that at the ultra-premium price point, buyers don't respond to louder claims, they respond to stories of genuine craft, collaboration, and care.

The recognition

Thornton is Theola's most decorated single project. The ACS Australian Cinematographers Society recognised the brand film with a Gold in 2020, one of the most prestigious cinematography awards available to branded content in Australia. The Transform Awards ANZ followed with a Bronze for Best Visual Identity from the Property Construction and Facilities Management Sector, and the AGDA Design Awards recognised the brand expression work with a Merit.
